Open Office Math

This morning, while I'm using the computer, my sweetheart called me from work and told me he downloaded a program where I can type, create and edit scientific formulas and equations easier. Wohooooo. This will be a big help for me. I normally answer some Math questions in Yahoo Ask and boy! it's not so easy typing this numbers and equations all the time. I'm not very good at short cut keys either. I created a math website but until now I have not written any inputs but one because I'm having difficulty intyping all numbers and formulas. This would surely make my work easier. It's funny because he have no idea about the math website I created. I'm wondering how he knew I need this program so bad. I guess he just figured it out because he can see me solving math problems all the time.

He told me that he got it for free. If you're interested in downloading the program too, or you think, just check out OPenOffice.org. I already visited the website and it's definitely free. Right now, I'm still learning and exploring how the program works.

I admire environmentally conscious people. I always believe that we need to take care of our environment in any way we can and do our part to address the environmental problems and changes that are impacting our planet. If we won't care, who will?

My Peony

peony

I bought this Peony poster in a frame at Walmart. We were doing our shopping when I passed by this frame. I always love Peony flower. In Chinese feng shui (the art of placement to harness positive energy from the environment), the Peony flower is regarded as the most supreme of all flowers. It signifies beauty, luck, prosperity, the magical feelings of youth and honor. According to feng shui beliefs, Peony is excellent for enhancing marriage opportunities. (Love baby!) It's also said that, ladies who are single benefits from it as it is said to bring many suitors for their hands in marriage and will encourage libido of their desired men. (yay!) On the other hand, single men displaying Peony also benefit from it as powerful emblem of conjugal love and activation of yin energy brings prospective female into their lives. (oyy ayos ah!)

We have lots of Peony flower decorations inside the house, not only because it's a good feng shui item but because I really love the flower too. It's pretty. We don't have framed Peony pictures or paintings, so I decided to get this one. To my surprised, the frame only cost less than $5 because the store have some items on sale for college students. It was on time for school opening and so many items for college dorm decorations and furnitures were on sale. I got it on a very good price.

Acne Tips

Do you or anyone you know have acne problems? Almost everyone can or may be affected by acne. In fact, it's one of the most common problems by people especially adolescents. Acne has the potential to leave unwanted scars, that's why it is important to prevent it. I found a great site about acne at Acne.com. I am enjoying the sites so much because they have articles about acne, it's causes and effects, you'll see pictures along with explanations about your skin pores and cells. I also love reading their articles on acne tips, treatment, types of acnes and prevention, and much more. Don't believe everything you hear about acne. The site has an Acne Myths and Claims section and you might be surprised to know that some informations we hear about acne are just myths. It's always great to learn and it's true, prevention is always better than cure.

Flour

I always wonder why the word flour is pronounced exactly like the word flower. I already know that much of our food terminology comes from French but have no idea of this word. One time, I was reading Readers Digest, I found one short article about it. I learned that the word flour is derived from fleur, the French word for flower. The French use the word to describe the most desirable, or floury and protein-rich part of a grain. We bake and make sauces with the flower of grains, such as wheat, which we call flour. That's easy to remember.

Chopped Body

I feel so sorry for that Filipina Guest Relation Officer in Japan that was killed by a her Japanese admirer after she refuse to live with him. A twenty-two year old, Honey Faith Ratilla Kamiusawa (not so sure if that's the spelling of her family name) went missing for couple of days, and later her body was found in a suitcase. She was chopped into 10 parts and was hidden inside a locker in a train station. Poor woman. After several investigations, 48 years old, Hiroshi Nozaki admitted the said killing and guided authorities to where her body was hidden. What I don't understand is why this killer is now out of prison when he has killed another 27 years old filipina last 2000. The reports said that Hiroshi Nozaki was imprisoned for 3 years. That's an awful short sentence for a murder. Makes me think, killers should never be freed again. My condolences to the victims family, friends and love ones.

Two Republic of the Philippines choral groups harvest awards in Hong Kong choir festival

Filipinos loves to sing and many of us, do so well in this field. Even those that are not so gifted with a voice loves to sing at home, in a karaoke bar, or in family and friends gatherings. Music has been part of our culture. Just recently, two Filipino choir groups harvest awards and won major prizes in a recently concluded 2008 Hong Kong International Youth and Children’s Choir Festival. Congratulations to The Vox Angeli Children’s Choir and the University of North Eastern Chorale. It's the first time of the Vox Angeli choir to compete but managed to bag the gold prize in the Children’s choir category and also won the silver in the Folkloric category. I am sure The Vox Angeli choir members also enjoyed their performance with Hong Kong superstar Jackie Chan in the World Sings for Olympics concert. The University of North Eastern Chorale received the gold award in the Folkloric category and also won a silver for the Mixed Youth category. (O di ba?... Astig!)

Here's the QTV news video about the two Philippine choral groups win big at Hong Kong choir festival

Jason Mraz - I'm Yours

I had my last song syndrome earlier. I heard the song on the radio in the afternoon while we were waiting for our barbeque . Jason Mraz song entitled I'm Yours always puts me in a happy mood, but damn! since this afternoon, the song kept running all day in my head and I keep singing few lines from the song. I had last song syndrome. It's hard to get rid of.

Well you DAWNED ON me and you bet I felt it
I tried to be chill but you're so hot that I melted
I fell right through the cracks
And now I'm trying to get back
Before the cool done run out
I'll be giving it my bestest
Nothing's going to stop me but divine intervention
I reckon it's again my turn to win some or learn some

I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait, I'm yours

Well open up your mind and see like me
Open up your plans and damn you're free
Look into your heart and you'll find love, love, love.
Listen to the moment, baby sing with me.
All our peaceful melody.
It's your God-forsaken right to be loved love loved love love

So I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait I'm sure
There's no need to complicate
Our time is short
This is our fate, I'm yours

I've been spending way too long checking my tongue in the mirror
And bending over backwards just to try to see it clearer
But my breath fogged up the glass
And so I drew a face and I laughed
I guess what I be saying is there ain't no better reason
To rid yourself of vanitys and just go with the seasons
It's what we aim to do
Our name is our virtue

But I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait I'm yours
There's no need to complicate
Our time is short
This is our fate, I'm yours

Well no no, well open up your mind and see like me
Open up your plans and damn you're free
Look into your heart and you'll find love love love love
Listen to the music of the moment come and dance with me
I like one big family (2nd time: I like happy family)
It's our God-forsaken right to be loved love love love

I won't hesitate no more
Oh no more no more no more
It's your God-forsaken right to be loved, I'm sure
There's no need to complicate
Our time is short
This is our fate, I'm yours

No I won't hesitate no more, no more
This cannot wait I'm sure
There's no need to complicate
Our time is short
This is our fate, I'm yours, I'm yours

Math student's love letter

I know a lot of students don't like mathematics that much. While I am not the best in mathematics, I do love math. It's my second favorite subject, recess (snack time) being the first (hehehe). When I was a student, I heard and knew a lot of crazy stuffs that other students do, students that hate mathematics. A single math problem especially those that require abstract concept gives enough neuron whacking your brain.

I was reading jokes earlier and I found this joke. Being a math major myself, this joke cracks me up. It's a love letter written by a Math student.

My Dear Love,

Yesterday, I was passing by your rectangular house in trigonometric lane. There I saw you with your cute circular face, conical nose and spherical eyes, standing in your triangular garden.

Before seeing you, my heart was a null set, but when a vector of magnitude (likeness) from your eyes at a deviation of theta radians made a tangent to my heart, it differentiated.

My love for you is a quadratic equation with real roots, which only you can solve by making good binary relation with me. The cosine of my love for you extends to infinity. I promise that I should not resolve you into partial functions but if I do so, you can integrate me by applying the limits from zero to infinity.

You are as essential to me as an element to a set. The geometry of my life revolves around your acute personality. My love, if you do n ot meet me at parabola restaurant on date 10 at sunset, when the sun is making an angle of 160 degrees, my heart would be like a solved polynomial of degree 10.

With love from your higher order derivatives of maxima and minima, of an unknown function.

Now tell me, who says Math can make you crazy? Hehehe.

Let's Patronize our products

Philippine Dried Banana
I found this in the grocery section while we were shopping for foods. I try to patronize our own products (not only food products) as much as I could. I know we have several products that are good in quality. I know that a simple act of buying our own products is such a big help to our economy, especially now that Philippine economy is in the dumps. It's so sad but it's true. For those drinking natural herbal products, the Philippines have proven effective called ABS Herbs that's successful in the local market and fast gaining popular acceptance worldwide. I'm not sure if you've heard about this but I learned that majority of its products’ raw materials are sourced from Filipino farmers thus providing jobs to thousands. Even the former Department of Health Secretary, Senator Juan Flavier, M.D., author of the Traditional and Alternative Medicine Act (TAMA) and the Sampung Halamang Gamot, and a strong advocate on the use of Philippine herbs and vegetables supports the herbal supplement giant ABS Herbs. I am sure we have a lot of quality and effective products in the market, and when you see it, I wish you'd patronize it. I wish that in my own little way, I would be able to help. I believe that patronizing our own products is our first step in developing our economy.
